[vPostMaster] Vpostmaster

I had vpostmaster working yesterday, but then i started installing 
openvpn and messing with the firewall and routing tables. today i tried 
to get mail via imap through dovecot and it wont connect. i looked at 
the maiallog file and it says:

dovecot: auth(defualt): pgsql: connect failes to vpostmaster: coulde not 
connect to server: Permission denied.
                                     is the server running on host 
localhost and accepting TCP/ip connections on port 5432?


i checked to make sure i could log in to the postgres server using the 
command "psql vpostmaster" as user vpostmaster and it worked, if i try 
"psql vpostmaster -h localhost" it props for a password which i do not 
know because i used the install script to install. basically i am asking 
hwo to fix this, and why it would change when i messed with iptables and 
bridging. If nothing else where do i find that password or remove the 
requirement so i can do more tests?
