[vPostMaster] Getting Started

I have a new T1 line with static addresses. My old connection is a
wireless service with my connection IP assigned dynamically. In trying
to make the transition to the new connection I realized that my existing
e-mail would not work because my e-mail provider does not accept relayed
mail. I thought I could solve this problem by having my own e-mail
server for outgoing e-mail. I installed vpostmaster and setup a user
account on a new domain name which no-ip.com points to one of my static
IP's, which is the IP for my web and e-mail server. From the Internet I
port scanned my new domain and saw the e-mail ports as open. I then used
telnet to log into POP and IMAP and got a login prompt, but the response
was that plain text logins are disabled. So far to me, things are going
as expected. The problem is that I can't send or receive e-mail from an
e-mail client from the server PC or from the Internet. In Evolution I
used the account setup feature to scan for login protocols but none of
the login protocols were seen as available. My first problem is that I
really don't know what I am doing. Can anyone suggest a link or material
that I could study to get up to speed? What might be a good approach to
troubleshoot my login problem? Thank you for any help.

Kirk
