I get some delay, nowhere close to what you're getting. I'm running only 
a pair of 600Mhz. Xeons, but with 4G or RAM.

Sean did say that SA is very RAM intensive, so it may be that RAM is 
more critical than CPU.

If you are hitting swap significantly perhaps more RAM is an answer.
