Note that if you do a manual update you are, in the best case, probably
committing to manually watching for and applying updates from now on.  And
depending on how you do it, you may also end up causing problems with the
package database or having things get angry when the upstream distro
releases it's version of files you may have replaced.

Unless you are running on a distro that does not currently track security
updates (like older Fedoras, for example), it's probably best to wait for
your distro to push out it's packages.
